Joe Barbera's last two cartoon characters were drawn for Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Frank Ryan.  The characters Bony Pony and Tony Pony were drawn by Joe Barbera in 2001 for Dr. Ryan.  Dr. Ryan says, "I had become friends with Joe and his wife Sheila after we were introduced by mutual friends.  For a few years, I would regularly have lunch at their house in Studio City and, afterwards, enjoy an afternoon of karaoke with them.  Joe loved to get up and do karaoke.  He had a wonderful Tony Bennett style.  He also loved showing us rare Hanna-Barbera cartoons like the original Tom and Jerry."
